MELBOURNE, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Papua New Guinea (PNG) Foreign Minister Justin Tkatchenko reaffirmed Friday the country's adherence to the one-China policy, noting that PNG would take the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations with China as an opportunity to promote exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

He made the remarks at the launch ceremony of the 2026 Charming China (Guangdong): Lingnan Culture Travels to the South Pacific (PNG) event in Port Moresby, expressing appreciation for China's long-term support for PNG's cultural and educational development.

Yang Xiaoguang, Chinese Ambassador to PNG, stated that China stands ready to further deepen cultural exchanges with PNG, expand cooperation across various sectors, and continuously advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

At the event, audiences enjoyed performances by artists from south China's Guangdong Province and local students from the Butuka Academy, a China-PNG friendship school, and experienced traditional Chinese handicrafts. ■
