FUZHOU, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- The emblem for the 2018 Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) Football Cup in South China's Jinjiang was unveiled here on Wednesday.
The final design, selected from 10 alternatives submitted by five companies, is characterized by the local culture of the Minnan region.
Inspired by the traditional architecture style of "bricks and stones", the football-like logo is designed with two main colors: brick red and grass green, combining the local cultural elements together with images of the football pitch.
The AUSF-proved emblem, which uses an altered Chinese character referring to Asia and the English letter "A", shows the Chinese brush calligraphy of "Jinjiang 2018" underneath.
According to the introduction of the organizing committee, the designer Zhou Xie is a Jinjiang native, and is now working at an advertisement company.
The 2018 AUSF Football Cup will take place here from Oct. 29 to Nov. 11. Sixteen men's teams and seven women's teams representing universities from Asian countries and regions will gather for the event.
China will send one men's team and two women's teams to join the competition, and the qualifying rounds will begin on Aug. 16 when eight men's teams and four women's teams will fight for the three positions.
