OSLO, June 29 (Xinhua) -- Norwegian police have arrested nine people and seized 600 to 700 kilograms of cannabis in several actions throughout eastern Norway, public broadcaster NRK reported Friday.

"During the last two weeks, a major investigation called Operation Hubris has led to several major seizures in various parts of Eastern Norway," said Ketil Haukaas, leader of National Criminal Investigation Service (Kripos).

Among the arrested people, two have Danish citizenship and are know to Danish police. The value of the seized drugs is between 70 million and 105 million kroner (8.58 million and 12.87 million U.S. dollars), the report said.

"The drugs come from abroad and professional, organized criminals bring the drugs to Norway," Haukaas said.

Eivind Borge, leader of Operation Hubris, did not rule out possibility of more seizures in future, as the found drug was in remarkably big amount, considering the fact that investigation did not last more than two weeks, NRK wrote.

According to him, there is "no doubt" that the criminals will suffer financially after the seizures.

Two 25-year-olds who were arrested acknowledged partial penalization, the report said.
