AMMAN, June 19 (Xinhua) -- King Abdullah II of Jordan on Tuesday met with White House senior adviser Jared Kushner to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian peace, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

At the meeting, also attended by U.S. Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt, the two sides discussed the ways to boost the Jordan-U.S. ties in various areas, as well as regional and international issues.

King Abdullah voiced his support for the U.S. aid to Jordan that enables the Kingdom to implement several projects in various areas and reduce the pressure it faces due to regional conditions.

On the Palestinian issue, the King underlined the need for reaching a just and lasting peace in the region that enables the Palestinians to raise their legitimate aspiration to build their state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He underlined the need to end the stalemate in the Israeli-Palestinian peace, by relaunching the peace talks on the basis of the two-state solution, the Arab Peace initiative and the UN resolutions.

The Jordanian leader said the issue of Jerusalem should be addressed via the Israeli-Palestinian final status talks as resolving the dispute over the holy city is key to achieving the Middle East peace.
